Lip Scrub for Chapped Lips

This winter weather has been very rough on my family’s skin and lips!  We have been suffering from dry and chapped lips.  Even though I am constantly reminding everyone to use my nourishing lip balms (and they are using it!) we still need to scrub away all that dead skin from our lips.  I decided to make a sweet and moisturizing lip balm and scrub 2 in 1!  And this was the end result:

Strawberry Sugar Lip Scrub (and balm!)

For the lip balm base I used beeswax, avocado oil, sweet almond oil, shea butter, and vitamin E.

I chose these ingredients for their properties:

Avocado Oil is a heavy, moisturizing oil rich in Vitamins A, B1, B5, D, E, minerals and protein.  It is a fantastic emollient with skin soothing properties and is rich in monounsaturated fatty acids. Avocado oil softens aging, dry or rough skin, it penetrates deeply so that nutrients can enter the dermis of the skin .

Sweet Almond Oil is a luxurious, light, non-greasy, moisturizing oil which easily absorbs into the skin and is known for its natural warming effect on sore muscles. It is also renowned for its rich concentration of oleic and linoleic essential fatty acids which help to give it exceptional penetrating and restructuring properties.

Shea butter is high in vitamin and mineral content. It is known to benefit dry skin

Vitamin E is an antioxidant that protects and repairs your skin.

I melted the oils, butter and beeswax. Then I added pink lip safe mica (natural color) and strawberry flavor oil to the mix.

Once I stirred everything I added the sugar, stirred again and then poured into the jars.

To use you just need to scoop a tiny bit with your dry and clean fingers and apply in a circular motion into your lips.  Gently massage and wipe (or lick : D) off the sugar.  You are going to love how soft your lips will feel!
